Day 54 of 331 - Another Great Day!

Evenin', Mam!
Another great day! I just finished drawing at 11:15 - a few minutes ago. This time I completely finished the roof and gable of the Inglenook. (Actually, as with the rest of the roof, I need to install the standing seam ribs, but that will be a fairly easy operation.)
I must say, the sculpting or modeling that I had to do to complete this portion of the model were quite intricate. The only thing left that will be as intricate are the shingles on the lower porch roof, which is actually curved. That will be a little trickier, but I'm sure I will be able to do it at this point. While there is still much to do, I don't believe there is anything remaining that I will have difficulty sculpting or modeling.
As is always the case when we do something that stretches our abilities, the more we do it, the more confidence we gain. As this is the most challenging thing I have ever done as an architect, it has indeed stretched my abilities and given me tremendous confidence.
Meanwhile, as I have pondered the challenge at The Pecans - that being that the new owners' main objective is to just "sell lots" - I have realized that every great thing that was ever accomplished required someone to visualize and believe in the improbable - if not the impossible. Thus, this is no different. How to change the minds of the owners is not necessarily my problem. If I simply maintain my visual (mental) image of The Pecans as an architectural haven or mecca, and I act consistent with that image, and do all that I can and should do to move toward that for my part, then the way will appear.
Just to report the current state, the owner informed me that his partner was preparing to build a large, but less architecturally significant home, somewhere near the entry, so that prospective buyers could see that something "nice" could be done for a reasonable amount of money. It appears that the bottom line is that the standards are being lowered. That, of course, runs counter to my insistence that the way to market the project and achieve the highest possible property values is to raise the architectural standards. That is the position that I will adhere to.
In the interim I will prepare models and drawings of just such houses, and make them available to prospective buyers. I do not have any plans to try to convince the new owners to do otherwise. I am simply maintaining my posture that the only way to do this is to make this an architectural mecca, and to advertise it as such in the national media. To achieve that will be a miraculous accomplishment, and that is what I am doing!

Good night, all!
