Day 7 of 331 - Determination

Wow! Another day . . . not exactly another dollar, however . . . every situation is a learning experience - if we make it that. So, what happened in my 'interview' this morning? Well, it was great to see John (Penn). He has managed to do several very nice projects since we saw each other several (3?) months ago. One was the largest architectural site model I have ever seen. It was 8' x 11'-6". Huge, and impressive. John does amazing work. Bottom line? He has three employees, but said he had cut back on their hours recently. So, he wasn't looking to hire anyone.

Meanwhile, he asked what I had been up to, and I shared with him in general terms what I am working on with "The Project." He was interested enough when I described it to look at it on Google World. We had a good talk, and I gave him a signed copy of my book. He thanked me and told me to find some work so he could sell me his Z-Corp 510 Color Printer. I told him I would.

I then returned home and spent the remainder of the day working on the model of the Rosson House. When John saw that I had not only done the two major elevation drawings, but a model as well, he seemed impressed. I had told him that I could do models, but everything he had seen up until now were elevation drawings. He will be back in town on Monday, so I will probably show him the model (which I hope will be quite far along) upon his return.

I do not know where exactly to go right now, but I will continue to work on this, and pursue any other architectural opportunities I can uncover. It occurs to me that there must be other opportunities out there. I will keep you informed.

Wright!
PS. While we didn't eat out (that is a rarity these days), Jan bought some fortune cookies for desert. Mine said "Your determination will bring you much success." Perhaps the only difference between 'determination' and 'hard headedness' is the motive behind either one - determination having a good motive, and hard headedness a bad one such as pride or arrogance. That being said, I am "determined" to pursue my goals of bringing great architecture to the world, as well as teaching the principles thereof to all who have a desire to learn.
